Time is flying. I can't believe Gretta is 8 weeks old already. Last night we made the decision to move her out of our room and put her in her own room. The move raised mixed feelings for me. The same thing happened with Grady who we moved out of our room at 6 weeks. I get sad because it means they are growing up but I am happy to have our room back to ourselves. There are a few reasons we move them out early. The first is because both kids have been noisy sleepers so they wake us up often, even when they are not awake themselves. Second, both kids have slept better once we move them to their own room. And the most important reason is so they get used to their room and their environment as early as possible.
As young as Gretta is, she still knew she was in a different environment. I made sure we were in her room for every feeding yesterday so she could adjust to her new room. By bed time she was so tired she didn't care where she slept. We also kept her in her bassinet, which she slept in while she was in our room. She will be in there for a few more nights and then we will transfer her to her crib. Her first night was amazing. She slept two - four and a half hour stretches and only woke up once to eat. Already better for everyone. We have a queen size bed in her room for any rough nights we will have.

Happy Girl!
